"Power output is a record-breaking 400bhp at 8,500rpm..... the highest figure yet achieved by a naturally-aspirated V8 production engine. "

Wow, who would have thunk that all them american muscle car engines like the 426 hemi, 427 and 429 ford, 454 clebbies, etc had less that 400 hp over 30 years ago?
Who is going to break the bad news to the corvette Z06 owners that chebbie lied to them?
Oh the shame.

Sammy, you don't understand: it's a record for one of those pitiful DOHC V8s, not a real mans's pushrod engine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

At 5.7L the corvette will need 640 bhp to beat it.

Piece of shit? Italy has produced some of the greatest cars ever made. As far as style-wise ferrari's are in my opinion the best looking out of any(aside from those in the 80's, but what car other than a 911 wasnt ugly from then anywase) and as far as engine-wise they are grealty designed. I mean i love german cars but do you ever see turbo-charged or extremely large displacement ferraris, no because they make great power naturally(nothing against Porsche or Audi cause i drive one of each) but just because a car is from Italy doesnt mean its a POS. I mean if i had the money i would love to put a Ferrari engine in my 914, i havnt heard anything better then the roar of a Ferrari!

heh he was joking... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Italian cars have a bad name, because of historical levels of dealer support, and repair doods in general, were few/few, and very far between.

You can't get parts at FLAPS.. unless you are looking for Type-R stickers..

OK, I guess there are two ways of reading his statement. One was (the way i read it) says that it has record breaking horsepower for a naturally aspirated V8.

The other way (the way you read it) is based solely on horsepower per liter.
Hard to say which was intended.

I leaned towards my interpritation because of the phrase "record breaking 400 bhp..."

You're kidding me right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Once you go beyond the fancy hairdresser look of those Fiat's you will soon learn that Guido was either stoned, drunk or both when he designed/build the car...

A piece of shit is even an understatement! They're just short of being duct-taped together from the factory.
Nothing fits on these cars, and Guido had no idea how to make it fit either, nor did he care...
A pop-rivet here, a self taping screw there, oh wait, I could use a bolt and nut too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

The "beauty" of a Ferrari isn't even skin deep (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Yeah and you ever tried to get spares for them?
(Italian cars in general)
Although Lamborghini are now looking good thanks to new owners (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

This is not good looking IMHO

If the Italians can't build engines worth anything, how come Ferrari engined cars repeatedly win without failure in F1? I mean, shummy couldn't win if the machine wasn't also great.

Here is a V8 for sale close to me that would make an interesting swap. It's a 362 making 420 hp and 400 ft lbs torque. Probably sounds killer too. Check it out:

400 hp isn't too bad for NA V8.

I remember an article in VW-Porsche rag 15 years ago where someone put a twin-turbo 350 - making 500+ hp in a 914.
Top speed 202mph. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

400hp would get you moving toward 200mph anyway!

Enjoy!

You have to remember the conversion factor between the two countries. V12 Canadian is roughly equal to V8 US. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I'm guessing that he meant that the peak-power RPM is the highest ever. Most V8s ain't exactly known for being high-revvers.

Of course, what he wrote definitely implied that no other V8s made 400 HP.

Yeah, they're great running engines and ONLY need to be rebuild every 3 hours. And for a Ferrari engine, that's not too bad (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
