We went to a PCA event this morning. I got to drive a 356 with microsquirt on it. That transforms the driveability of it tremendously. From the factory, it had 75 up at the crank. Dyno tuning shows 74 hpnat the wheels.

I know it’s not on the car, but after more than a dozen years they are finally going on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Took it for a ride this morning then came home and changed the oil and filter. I have about 4K miles on it now, so the first oil/filter change was at 1,298 miles and now this one at 2,600 miles later. I also sent the oil in to Blackstone Labs for analysis. It looked clean coming out. Looking forward to seeing the report. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Finished painting under the front fenders for a cleaner look and added protection. Installed new rubber grommets, too. The turn signal cases were media blasted and painted silver + clearcoat since the die cast metal tends to corrode over time.

Took a friend for a ride (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
A former band member at the theater where I work commissioned me to print up some vehicle graphics for his truck. During the install, I mentioned I had done a partial wrap on one of my 914s. When he saw it, he went (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) so I asked if he'd like to take a ride. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Barely into a short 3 mile trip and he was hooked (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) He said "I'm gonna have to find one of these!" He's moving back to New Mexico... maybe he'll find a nice one out there! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Finally got a few hours to spend on Chucky. Thank you Chris for the ribbed material you sent me. I never cared for the flat radiator shroud. Looks a bit more like it belongs. After some forming and cutting I'm almost ready to powder coat. Proud to display. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Oscar |

Spent some time fixing a loose deposit box. Turns out the bracket that attached to the bottom of the dash was not tight. Tightened those two screws and then had to get the two screws that secure the deposit back back in. I was contorted like a pretzel getting the bracket secured and then it took me about 10 minutes per screw, to get the deposit box screwed to the bracket. With the extra wiring in the deposit box area for the electric antenna and the seat heaters it was slow and careful going. I learned that at my age I really should not be bending my body up like that. My brother was laughing and making fun of me.
I also am having a throttle issue. So I pulled the pedal board out and checked the cable and all that seems OK. So put that back together. I may have to drop by Pacific Power Motorsports to see if it is somehow an engine system that is messing with me. If I am driving and take my foot off the gas the RPMs will go down to about 1500 and then I have to just tap the pedal to get it to drop to idle. It's a bit irritating when it does it, but it is not all the time. But we shall see what we see. The car runs great otherwise. I also have to adjust my left front wheel bearing next weekend, I have a tiny bit of wiggle if I grab the wheel and rock it when the car is up in the air with the wheels hanging. Probably not even 1/8 of a turn to correct I bet. |
