I am thinking about selling or parting my 1987 911 targa that has been converted to a 965 wide body convertible. The engine and trans were rebuilt about 17k ago. The engine has 930 cams and some other upgrades while it was being built. Exhaust has been backdated with ssi's and 2in 2out mille miglia muffler and 2 cats were added to pass smog(although it would not pass a visual it has never been an issue). Engine has new AFM, TPS, fuel cut switch, idle bypass valve.
The flares are steel and the bumpers are aftermarket fiberglass. Boxster monoblock calipers, momo sterring wheel and shift knob, 993 power seats ect.
I would like to sell the engine first before starting to part the car. Car runs perfect and is currently registered in California. I just bought a Mercedes Ml55 for hauling the family so no room for this toy.
I would like to get $25k in whole or parts.
Thanks

Congrats..M55-(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif). You might get better response on the Bird Site ( Pelican).

Good luck.

Why part it and not sell it whole? It's a beautiful car!

Thanks for your comments.
Looks like a teener is working a deal for the engine already, hope it works out.
I am very happy with the Ml55 and I did post the car on Pelican and Craigslist.
The car has been great and have had it for 12 years and I had fun building it the way I wanted and now it looks like I get to enjoy the other part of the hobby the disassembly and I get to talk to lots of new people about cars.
Oh yeah, I still have a 914 to finish building

If you are selling parts it should be fine. But I have the same question. Why go to the trouble of destroying a working 911 only to work to put parts back into one that doesn't work? Seems a waste. Normally the things we see parted are rusted hulks.

Because when i was a kid i built plastic car models and swapped parts with friends and now that i am a bigger kid my hobby is to play with real cars. This is a very straight and clean car but like most it is worth more in parts and part of the hobby is to meet and talk to other porsche people not so concerned about the time parting the car i have parted 4 other cars and enjoyed it.
i am sure that this car will be running again someday because someone will buy the clear tittle chassis to fix their wrecked car. Besides i have always been a teener and need to finish that car this year.
thanks,
Chris
