Sorta OT, but I have a set of valve covers that have signatures inside them.
Appears to be maybe three different signatures with dates.
Is this a "thing" that I am unaware of?

This thread reminded me of that because I decided I shouldnt paint over the signatures.

Maybe one of them is the Capn's :-)
