Comparison of stock setup (more black is visible at bottom of brake light bucket) and new white brake board with "silver" clips.
I tried a "chrome" paint on the LH clip set and a "flat aluminum" paint on the RH clip set. Both were better than white, but the flat aluminum makes the clips nearly disappear. You'd really have to know they were there—and look for them, too. Into the weeds? Sure, but it might be interesting for those who want an appearance that's as close to factory as possible with a significant safety upgrade. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Nice job Pete. That takes an already outstanding product and improves on it. All of Spoke's lights are on my list. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

@horizontally-opposed
Pete, thanks for evaluating this. I think the white filament will work for the front turnsignals with white PCB. I can get silver or gray filament for the rear lights. |

I'm updating the Euro front turnsignals to add more white LEDs. Recently I did a brake light for an MG. It was a tiny board and I jammed 48 LEDs on to it. That got me thinking about the 914 Euro front turnsignals. Spoke,The current design has 21 white LEDs and the board is designed for both Euro with 21 white and 48 amber LEDs as well as the US configuration with all amber LEDs. I wanted to jam as many white LEDs as possible where they would all shine through the clear part of the Euro lens. The first design is V7 below with 33 white LEDs. This design is completely routed and ready for the fab house. Upon further review, I wanted to jam even more white LEDs on the board. One thing I noticed about the board and the Euro lens, was that I could see the first row of amber LEDs through the clear portion of the lens. That means I could add another row of white LEDs and they would shine through the clear part of the lens. This design is shown below as V8 and has 42 white LEDs. Twice as many as the current design. Even though the V7 design is ready for fabrication, I think I want to do the V8 design with more LEDs. Still need to do the final layout for this board. @rmital Ray, this means your front turnsignals will be delayed until I finish the layout, get the board fabricated and assembled. Sorry to make you wait but it should be well worth it. V7 - 33 White LEDs V8 - 42 White LEDs Thanks for your work on the LED lights! The brake light boards are GREAT--as the others said, they provide a huge improvement in visibility and safety. Is the latest version of the front Euro turn signals (V8 w/42 white LEDs?) available yet? I've got a tax return burning a hole in my pocket (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Thanks! Steve A- @Spoke Just checking in to see if the V8 front Euro lights are getting close. When they are, I'll have a pair of V7 Euros with black PCB available for someone else at a discount. |

Yes, I have the new Euro front lights with 42 white LEDs in black and white. The price is the same as before. I have 2 sets of white Euro front lights with 21 white LEDs which I will put on the Discount Corner page. The price for these 2 sets will be $125. Now that I have brake and rear turnsignal boards in white, I'm adding reverse LED boards in white as well. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Hi Jerry,
Would you happen to have a comparison picture between the two versions of the Euro fronts? I have a set of the older ones but may upgrade to V8 . |

Hi Jerry, Would you happen to have a comparison picture between the two versions of the Euro fronts? I have a set of the older ones but may upgrade to V8 . Eric, I'll take some better pictures this weekend. Here's what the difference will look like. The old boards had white lines and the new boards have a solid white appearance. The light output is about 50% more intensity. |

Are those on a white or black board? @drem914 The new white/amber front turnsignals come in both white or black. Instead of making one PCB that can be white/amber or all amber I've made 2 separate boards that are white/amber and all amber. This makes both boards simpler to assemble and the white/amber have twice as many (42 vs 21) white LEDs. The new boards are the same price as the old boards. The old 21 white LED boards have been taken out of circulation although I built 2 sets of the 21 white LED boards. These two board sets are on the Discount Corner now. I've had a couple of folks who purchased the older boards with 21 white LEDs step up to the new 42 white LED boards. They should be able to sell their old boards for a good price. I will honor any warranty or damages to these boards to the new owners for their piece of mind. I've had so few boards come back for issues that I will repair/replace any boards that folks purchased for free regardless of when they were purchased. |

A small box arrived in the mail today (THANKS Jerry!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
Version 8 of the front boards from Spokeworks.com. Installation is easy-peasy--to the point I thought pictures unnecessary. The most difficult part was getting my big mitt into the front housing to install the base. That said, here's a picture showing the new LED parking light (passenger side) compared to the old incandescent parking light (driver side): And yes, they're both "on." Best mod since I've done since installing Jerry's brake light boards! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
