We have just tracked down an early (slim) rear view mirror for our '70 914 but it needs re- spraying and the mirror is pitted. I think we know what to spray the surround with (textured plastic spray) but are not sure whether we can get the mirror out without causing damage. Should we apply heat? Any tips please for removing and replacing the mirror glass?

Many thanks

Brian & Kate

Just a heads up

The replacement glass mirrors at AA don't fit so well.

The corners are not the same radius as stock. I tried both early and late versions they sell.
