When we first met Clay, I wanted your Cousin. Now I want your car. I must be getting old. Wow man, what an incredible journey. I was away from the site for a while so I had to catch up. It must really be something behind the wheel. Be safe

Last night I went back to work on the AC evaporator.

And the door for the defrost/face vents came loose from the rod.... inside the box I already glued closed.  So I ended up cutting the box open at the seams to fix the door.

Attached Image

Safety note kids.. when cutting plastic that was bonded with super glue, wear a mask and goggles.  When the cured glue gets hot, it gives off toxic fumes that will make your lungs hurt and your eyes water. I use an N95 mask and a set of safety goggles. And I keep a fan running to push the fumes away.

Got the door fixed, and set it aside to let the glue dry.  I will be adding epoxy to re-enforce the pivots inside to insure the door does not come off again.

I also added the connections for the recirculation air.

Probably not going to be able to update this for a few days.

Gonna be a busy weekend... we are helping to pull a 914 out of storage that has been there for many years. The new owner can tell that story. He needs to start his own thread.

I have not updated this in a long time. Worked stopped on the ac setup due to family issues. Now I am going to drop the motor, and fix the leaking cam box. And I just got an epic case of Dirk Wright's disease. While I am in there, I am going to install this:

It is going to be FUN!

It will be after the Hill Country tour, and when Betty's 914 finally comes back from the body shop, it moves to the front of line.

Nope, only six cylinders. That is a replica of a Porsche 935 fan. It is going on top of the 4.0L air cooled six. The throttle bodies are from a BMW K1300GS motorcycle. I have another set for the other side. I have to make plates to tie the throttle bodies together and provide a mount for the throttle linkage crossbar.

Stay tuned... more to come.

i hope this is not going to distract you from the mini monster phoenix red 74 that has to be reborn. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)

interesting about the throttle bodies.
the only time i have stood next to a 935 was when it was getting warmed up in a pit garage at phillip island. sounded like an angry motorbike. nice.

Nope. Her 914 comes first. It always has, and always will. You know the old adage "Happy Wife, Happy Life!" When your wife loves 914s as much or more than you do, you put her car first.
