I took the 914 to the PCA autocross on Sunday, thinking there won't be another one, so I will win my class. Of course this was my thinking last time, I brought the 356, and another one of those showed up, and beat me. So once again my plans for class dominance were foiled, another 914 showed up, and beat me. Ironically, had I brought the 356 I would have won my class, oh the irony!
Either way, three things in life I have found are pretty good even when they aren't, Pizza, Autocrossing, and the bedroom, never really had a bad example of any of the three, even when it's bad, it's still pretty good, all things considered.
I drove the 914 hard and it did really well on the tight turns, way out performing the 911's and Cayman's, the skinny worked. Had I had more experience I could have probably gave them a run for their money, but I was too busy going off course and eating cones, but having a blast!
Drive em like you stole them!!!!

McCarthy Parking Lot in Albany, right where 787 ends. It was fun.

The 914 looks like a perfect car for such an event.

Yeah, if you look at the bottom right picture, that's the end of the track, I was able to go into that at almost full speed and swing through, all the bigger Porsches had to come to almost a complete stop, and in the slalom's it breezed right through. If I was a better driver and had a 914/6 there would be no stopping me.

So close. I was just out that way 2 weeks ago (still have family in the Albany area). Didn't have mine with me, but still would have been fun to see.

I thought that looked like route 9. I passed by there on the way home from work a year or so ago and saw AX going on there on a week day probably around 5pm which was surprising. How often is there events held there? Damn, wish I had known.

The Local PCA does it about 4-5 times a year. Next one is in October.

Maybe we can get someone in a 914 who knows how to drive better than me and show up all the Cayman's.

This is the place that has the gas pumps at one end of the parking lot right? I will definitely be there in October as a spectator anyway. Unless they would allow my hooptie Hyundai to race (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It would be great to see some photos or video footage of that happening!

As long as you are a PCA member you can race whatever you want, I have seen Mini's, Hondas, and a Ford Fiesta. I thought about bringing the Benzo, but it might be too big for a tight track.

I've done two autocrosses this year, once with the 356 and once with the 914. I have to say the 914 is more fun, the extra power means I can really hammer it. Today I took it out and was doing the same and better times than all the guy's with 6 cylinders, 911's, Boxsters, and Cayman's.
The kids loved coming today and Daddy won his class, I didn't tell them I was the only 914 there, why ruin it?

Your excellent performance underscores the fact that the 914 was ahead of it's time!

Some lady kept calling it a "washing machine". I didn't point out my Maytag was doing better times than her CaymanR....

914's are ALWAYS the classiest thing out there. They win if they only show up.

Like I was thinking that day, call it what you want, but I was keeping pace with all the pricey newer Porsches, with a Porsche I paid $1500 for, so I got the last laugh.
