I'm selling my very nice 74 914 with 68,000 original miles on it. I bough it from the second owner 3 years ago, he had bought it from the original owner in 1976. It is an all Arizona car and has been garaged its entire life, it is 99% rust free. The second owner was an Aerospace Engineer, he had converted the car to a Chevrolet 305 power plant in the early 80.s, His mechanic had done most of the work, they used Kennedy engineering parts. It had begun life as a 1.8 liter car.
I found the car for sale on Craig's List and picked it up. It ran but the clutch had gone out, as a result the car had been sitting in his garage for many years. I trailered it home and replaced the clutch with a new one from Kennedy, I also went thru the engine and replaced gaskets and inspected the internals, I've also replaced and renewed every rubber hose, belt or pump on the car. I have all receipts and the car runs and drives very nice. I performed all of the renewal and upgrades bringing the car out of it's coma as though I was going to keep this car for life, sometimes life changes. I will miss this car a lot, I'm selling because my mom recently passed away and left me another vehicle more suitable for me to pass onto my son who will be driving in a few years, I just have to much stuff. This car has only been adult driven and has always been garaged in Arizona. Its not an original survivor because of the engine swap but it is in survivor condition and has very low miles. The car had dealer installed air conditioning and right now is running its original license plate issued in 74. One thing that amuses me as a life long 914 guy is how much attention this car gets now days wherever I go. People approach me, ask if they can take photos, one lady even followed me home. People smile, look amazed and just compliment me to death over it. What else is nice it that it can rely move out and performs as good as it looks. I cant think of another car in this price range that gets any of that kind of universal attention. 914's didn't used to get that kind of respect but that seems to have changed. The fender flares are fiberglass, they were on the car when I bought it. I upgraded the brakes and master cylinder, the FUCHS are re-pops but look great, 7x15 on the fronts and 9.5x15 on the rear, all new Porsche hardware. The stance of the car looks mean and it is overall just a nice ride and is a joy to own. I'm asking $11,900 OBO for this car, it need to go to a good home where someone can appreciate it and maybe even upgrade it to the next level. The car and I reside in Flagstaff Az. I would be happy to email more pictures and I will share everything I know about this car in an honest manor. [attachmentid=578 777] Attached image(s) |
