and you're at a stop light, 2 things either happen... it's usually,
1. "hey! cool car!" 2. They start revving their engines and want to race! This happens all the time to me here in good ol Bremerton, WA! I crack up, because even though deep in my heart I know our cars are a low end Porsche model, they assume it's a race car....All they see is the Badge and in my case, P O R S C H E on my sides and all of a sudden "ITS ON!" Just wondered if this happens to you.... CYA at the stop lights!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving-girl.gif) |

Almost all the time ... to and from work ... mostly Civics and such. JUST THE OTHER DAY!, some dropped-down-blinged-out Toyohondabishi pulled that crap next to me; rev'd his fartcan and blew NOS out from under his hood. I bit my tongue 'cuz I saw sumthin' he didn't. Green light, he lit the FWD, and bolted away from me Hellbent, right in front of a trooper parked in a vacant lot. Suddenly he turned on his law-abiding as the trooper turned on his pretty red-blue lights, and escorted him into the nearby KFC. I just HAD to toot my lil' horn as I passed, and left it at that; should've stop in and grabbed a 3-piece w/Coke. |

One night I was stopped outside the local mall to pick up my wife after work. A couple of guys were walking by then turned and walked up to my window. "How Much?" one asked. "How much money to buy your car right now, cash". he says. I made up a number "$12,000" "Damn, you're kidding me. Why so cheap?"
I thought it was hilarious. |

I had a 40something lady pull up next to me at a light in an E class and ask me to race... I just laughed. I guess she took that to mean "race on" She then guns it on green as I slowly pull away, a car flys out of the Mikey Ds full of high schoolers right in front of her. She hits the brakes (too hard by far) and slides the car sideways onto the lawn. Lucky for her here in Sac we don't have real curbs just these rounded things instead.
Mind you this was a 40 year old woman in an E class! Too funny, of course the downside is no one believes it. |

Aha, now we see the real reason the factory decided to leave off the crest on the front and 'porsche' on anything readable. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) |

I do not believe it----unless it was a 76 year old in an 05 Maxima---she swears she is not a gearhead, doesn't believe in street racing, yet got a ticket for doing 89 in a 40--yea right--My mom is too cool! hehe (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) |

Yeah - I live in Santa Clarita, CA where every teenage boy seems to drive a 5.0 Mustang or Camaro and all their dads drive Big ass SUV with 20's, then I have to drive to the SF Valley to work where everyone else has the "toyohondabishi's".
Not only do they have gobbs of displacement on me but the also have 25 years of Fuel Injection and computer technology, WTF... This really why I would like to have a V8 conversion. Here is a picture my 80.....That's right eighty year old neighbor took of the speedometer in his Mazda 6 while he was racing a young guy in a Nissan that didn't want to let him merge. He said that his wife was very quiet, but doing a bit of squirming while this was happening.

Um, YEAH?! Look at the speedo real hard. You can see where the needle was erased near the "0". Even the "0" looks crappy; bad Photoshop rendering. And what, no tach needle near redline? Yep, you've been had ... |

Yep...one night in particular, it was a POS early 80's monte carlo that the two high school age nimrods likely resurrected out of the backyard of their step-mom's mobile home. We were at a stoplight, they start revving that junker, and I turn to look and shake my head 'no'. Light goes green and they tear off. It takes them about a 1/4 mile to notice I didn't take the bait, so they slow down and we meet again at the next stoplight and try again. It was a rather nice evening so I had the lid off and they had their windows down. The nimrod in the passenger seat tries to talk trash and get me to race. I again tell them 'no thanks'. Light goes green, they tear away, I drive off as normal. The next light is where i'm turing onto the interstate and it was green. Dumb and dumber have again slowed down, but I have had enough of them so I speed up and pass them while merging onto the exit lane. The dive in behind me. I'm sure just about everyone here who has driven a 914 understands the simple pleasure of the 270 degree onramp (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) The suggested speed limit was 25. Not wanting to be near a junked out monte carlo any longer, I took the turn at a much greater speed and the monte carlo attempted to keep up. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but he appeard to make slight contact with the concrete retaining wall. I laughed even though it probably brought bad karma (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/spank.gif) From what I could see, the contact with the wall didn't do enough to make them stop and get out. They kept driving up the ramp, just at a slower speed.... Now I don't even try to acknowledge another car if they are acting like they want a street race. For some odd reason, it is almost always a redneck in a ratty old monte carlo. Around here, the 2 fast 2 furious crowd will usually just look at my teener with an expression of 'WTF is that?' |

WCC sunday night, as i was driving to the really bad neighborhood I stayed in, this VW beetle pulled up behind me at a light being driven by a female of some description. As she passed me with ease (obviously more horses than my 1.7) I saw that she had written with lipstick on her side window:
I (heart) your car Made up for the fact that hers was faster. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

I cant race the little ricers around here... Stock inline 4 from one of their cars makes more power than my little 1.8. If they miss a shift (hard since they all drive autos) I can zip ahead.
