http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-car...e-914-6-gt.html

Built from a real six with lots of special attention and parts.
Cost $370k to build....makes me feel a lot better about the cost of my build. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)
2.8 liter 311hp engine
You get the drift...

Would be fun to take this one around block.
I'd like to experience the acceleration this car supposedly is capable of.

Seems a bit steep

I just think cars and collection's like this are kinda a waste in a
Way being too expensive to really drive and use

They are amazing to look at but why would you lock a

It's a beautiful car, but price and value are relative things. Personally, I think that once you get past 100K, the numbers become meaningless.

It doesn't look like $225,000.00 to me.

But, what do I know?

We build $200K+ cars at the shop. Not 2x more fun than a $100K car but the parts really do add up quickly. One of our customers told me today he has 37 cars. Unlike me, even a $200K car is probably a smaller percentage of his net worth than the 2007 used Honda CRV I bought for my son. I do try to drive the shop cars any chance I get. They are made to drive. Trying to get in the 962 but thats a long shot. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

The neat thing is I can do a 914 with a 300+hp 993 motor for a lot less. Won't be the same car but I'll be satisfied.

Well.........I think it means glee or gloat at someone's misfortune.... I know I spelled it wrong.

Of course I'll defer to you Andy.

So the opposite would be frowning at someone's fortune....

Still a pretty cool car and yea....after six figures it's kind of meaningless.

And about those other cars in the photo, how do they get them stacked 3 levels high on those racks? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) Can't imaging using a forklift like they do at big marina storage facilities?

Do the fake ones have only 5 cylinders? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) For $370k, it would need something really really real.

A quarter million. Let me rephrase that...A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS! I'm gob smacked. That an additional $130k has been flushed down the crapper is beyond words. All post tax $ is the icing on the cake. The 666 5th Ave of 914s.

I don't often share threads with my wife. If we liquidated ALL of our savings we could swing it for cash. "Sorry Kevin, wrong color".

I'm just speculating here but a lot of the 'lost" $130K is labor and I bet the shop bills at $125-150/hr. But the owner didn't actually pay his employees what he bills customers. Granted, he might have lost potential profit since his car was getting work done and not a customer. Similar idea with hard part cost. Engine might have cost the owner $35K in parts, $15K in labor but the shop would charge a customer $75K. So the math may be a little fuzzy.

Remember, people pay a quarter million dollars for paint on canvas, shaped pieces of clay and fermented grape juice in a bottle, so if you define the car as art, It might be downright reasonable.
