I am sorry, but I am old and it has been a while. Do the spring tension rods go under the white roller guides or on top? ('73 1.8) I think I have them positioned properly, and have clamped the one end. Working with the roller side.

Under the rollers. The rods want to push up on those rollers to help open the trunk.
