If he enjoys it, let it be. However, it would not be my choice on ways to modify a 914. That said, McIntosh equipment has always been the cream of the crop in my book.

Crank that up and you would certainly find out about any hidden rust.

Would expect huge current draw, silly really considering how big the 914 cabin is,each to his own however.
I have a 6 speaker sound system behind me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) . |

The car is in the UK and belongs to @Rod
Before Rod and the audio installation I very very nearly bought this car. |

Back when I was a teen, I had a Fiat X1/9 and did something similar (but not nearly as expensive). I have some hearing loss today as a result. I hope he doesn't actually play it loud while driving.

My kids '82 audi coupe came with a stereo like that, no mac stuff but 3 amps, crossovers, EQ, caps, fan, 18 speakers, extra gel cell battery, isolator, HD alt and wiring.
All '90's stuff, we figure $8 to 10K. |

Ha. hi, just spotted this. Yes that’s mine, yes it’s overkill, but hey, you live once! It mixes my three favourite things..
914’s, fabrication, and listening to music. So what’s not to like. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Young: you must blast your tunes loudly.
Later: Yeah I want to listen but balance. OLD: Listen to the car! Ugh. get a honda with a stereo if you want music while driving. That's not what this car is about. |

Rubbish. The car is about whatever you want it to be about. Why should we all adhere to the same rules.
