Ok who else is in? Since I don’t get below the Mason/Dixon line that often. I plan to head out from Okteenerfest early on 9/15 for the Tail. If anyone else is interested or had planned on going why not form a traveling whorde? I have my GoPro so we could get some great action shots. There will be no drug testing and sketchy character is a plus.

Instead of going through Maryville to get to The Dragon, plan your route to go into Pigeon Forge, TN. From there, take Wears Valley Road. About halfway into Wears Valley, you can pick up the start of the Foothills Parkway which will give you ~25 miles of scenic drive along the ridge to the TN side of The Dragon.
After you've had your fill of The Dragon, head for the Cherohala Skyway (another scenic drive) which will take you west to Tellico and then I-75 for your blast back north. OR... you could take the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way to Cherokee, NC and then west to catch The Dragon from the North Carolina side. And when you get home, be sure to check for photos from 129photos.com. The owner is a good friend of mine and he will most likely post at least one 914 as a "Photo of the Week" on the following Monday. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

Just don't do it the way I did it, pulling a trailer, it sucked, and everyone behind me was really pissed.

Hello Dave! Sorry, I just saw this thread. I might be interested in chasing you around those mountains, if all my prep goes well the next couple of weeks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Sounds like a great addition to the trip!! |
