After about 2 hours I have both handles working OK. The cylinders are a little notchy to turn, depending on the key I use, but should work.

Getting ready to install the gas tank and plumbing. I have some ideas to try.

First, I want to use a metal fuel filter, but can only find 3/8" to 3/8". That means I need to have a separate 3/8" to 1/2" adapter to step up the supply line to feed the pump inlet.

Second, I want to see if I can set the lines so I can access and change the filter from underneath.

Third, I think I will connect the lines to the tank from underneath, with a minimum amount of extra length.

Let's see what will work.

Here's the supply line, with a brass adapter to step up from 3/8 to 1/2" hose.

Fuel filter, attached from underneath. I can imagine being able to replace this in the future.

Fuel filter tucked inside, where it will live most of the time.

Checking access to the gas tank fittings. This might work.

But before installing the tank, I need to repaint the upper part. The radiator shop the boiled it out did not do much prep, and the paint they applied was flaking off in places. Here's the tank after a quick wire brush treatment.

While waiting for paint to fully dry, I refilled the charcoal canister. A few months ago, I drilled 1" holes in each end to empty the original charcoal.

Here's the new charcoal. The pellets are a bit bigger than stock, but should work.

With both internal baffle plates in place, I filled the canister.

Here's the spring that keeps pressure on the end baffle to compact the charcoal.
