My clutch seems to be engaging too quickly upon releasing the pedal. Do I tighten or loosen the cable to get it to engage higher up the pedal travel arc? I can never seem to keep this in my head.

Tighten sir

I like it between 1/3 to almost 1/2 release of the total clutch pedal or enough that there is no grinding when you shift to reverse.

Agree to tighten cable. What is happening is that the clutch is letting go too far down the pedals travel, so the cable is too lose. If you tighten the clutch cable then you cause the release sooner. See my link below for 31 pages of notes. It goes over this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
