I added a modern touch to my car, I now have car play and a bunch of other features at my finger tips

CarPlay is very cool; my Boxster has CarPlay enabled PCCM.

Why not just replace the single din stereo with one that has AA/CP built in? They start at ~$55 and depending on the unit can really clean up the look of the dash. I grabbed one of these kinds of units for ours and its been great. No knob on the model I bought, so when it's off it's just a blank black panel that blends in. Installed a small Kenwood amp inside the console and a nice pair of 6.5" speakers in the footwells for a little better audio quality at the same time.

The one I bought in this thread works, but is too slow to be useable. I push a button and have to wait several seconds for anything to happen.

My experience with Porsches and my TR6 is that the durn cars go where you look. Great for driving a nice road, but if I get distracted the car wants in on the game. Maybe a heads up display.
