That is some amazing work. I remember seeing a 911 coupe like that about 20 years ago in a magazine. I suspect the buy it now price is way less than it cost to build.

I'm trying to find a picture of the transaxle alone. Or the caddillac/oldsmobile drivetrain...the obvious question is "will it fit into a 914"....
If you can add limited slip to that transaxle, maybe having an automatic wouldn't be too ridiculous... ...sounds like you CAN'T break it... |

WTF Britt? Your first comment about it is trash and then when others step up and like it, you change your mind? I am going to contact this guy and go take a look at it. I have a chance to pick up an old 911 for cheap and this could be an interesting conversion. The 911 I am looking at has no engine or trans so it would be perfect. |

You don't want one of those things in your car. it's a cast iron automatic trans and it sits half under the engine. |

I've read the FWD Olds/Caddy transmission alone weighs in around 300+lbs!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif)

Can you say DYNAFLOW??? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) ( (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smoke.gif) )
My Grampa had an early 50's Buick with a dynaflow tranny. Floor the sucker, engine revs to what sounds like rde line, slooowly creep up to speed. Think that was their first attempt at good gas mileage ........... in reverse ???????? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif) |

I gotta give the guy props.... lots of engineering went into that monster... I can't help but wonder if you put on a set of really sticky tires, if it would just wheelie-flip it self over backwards--LOL
That car CAN'T handle well.... a cast-iron Caddy big-block mounted in the rear of a 911?? Can you imagine the understeer? I scanned through it..... but I don't remember reading anything about beefing up the brakes to compensate for all that extra weight?? Nevertheless...... very cool..... Go fast...... don't turn (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) |

no I still dont like it. I dont think its smart to have the engine sticking into the cockpit of the car, but the guy gets some points for creativity. just so we're clear, I would only take it if it were like 500 bucks or something. b |
