I used to buy longer bolts for the inboard CV joints. After assembly of the joints, I would put nylock nuts on the inside of the flanges. It kept the bolts from backing out.
I also check them everytime I am under the car. |

I just checked mine and so far I am good without the washers. I looked at the other axle and it does not look like it has washers either. I ordered a set from Pelican to be safe though.
