'98 Suburban 4WD, new "bling bling" 18" wheels and 285/60-18 Kumho Ecsta STX's
Had local tire shop align the truck at the same time the new wheels were installed ...now the thing grabs wear grooves in the pavement like crazy. If I let go of the wheel on a bad road, it will swerve back and forth in the groove very badly. The alignment guy re-checked the settings after i complained but said that they were right on w/ factory specs...which (he says) is some small number (1/2 or 1 deg) of POSITIVE camber on the fronts!? Does this sound right? The tire shop says that it is all due to the wide tire...but I think there is still some alignment issue going on. Anyone have some insight? Thanks BH Here is a pic of the "Secret Service Wagon" Attached image(s) |

Nice wheels, You are experiencing a common problem with the "stock" settings. I have alternative settings that we use at our dealership to correct the bump steeer you are experiencing. I will "procure" them tomorrow and post. (Iam a GM driveability tech) Lar.. oh yea what is the offset of the wheel?

BH, I forgot to ask if your GMT400 came equiped with the steering stabilizer option from GM? This will make a big difference. If not I recomend this. It is available aftermarket however the brackets usually twist and tear the dust boot. Another question...have the upper control arm camber knock-outs been removed from both sides. This will be required to change caster to more positive so the truck will resist the urge to follow. Please forgive the late response, my employer (GM) has some "concerns" with some new models.
