It's only been a week, but I'm restless! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) I NEED A TUB!

I've decided that I need to find a good tub and not a finished car. I have all the bits I need, so it would be a waste of money to buy a finished car and try to part out the left over bits from my car. I imagine I could only break even with a ton of extra work. I'm hoping to find something decent in the $400 - $500 range so I can spend the rest on a 5 lug conversion and paint. Hopefully I'm not just dreaming. I'm checking all the for sale ads multiple times a day.

If you come up to Oregon I will give you a tub for free. No motor or trans, 75 with title. It is a roller, glass is there all lids. Not a wreck, this is a project car. Rust at firewall pass side.
PM and I will send pics.

Hey that six mount looks familiar! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I wish 75/76 cars were smog exempt in CA so I could take one of those offered. I definitely need something smog exempt, which means 74 or earlier.

Check state smog laws if it is anything like Oregon and Washington next year, the 75 will be exempt.

Well, unless something has changed since I lived there (one year ago), Oregon's smog laws are fixed at '74, similar to many states, like CA. The 25 year rule that "rolls" forward every year is the other system, like that used by Washington State. The states with fixed smog exempt years are unlikely to change as, after those years, all cars came with effective smog equipment and they likely won't ever permit you to remove it. The states with rolling exept years may or may not change them based on the political climate. On the one hand, laws are institutionalized and the status quo is hard to break without overwhelming political support. But on the other hand, politicians may well make "smog" a hot topic of a campaign and get the soccer moms driving 3 ton tanks to blame "clunkers" for giving their children ADD. Go figure.

BTW, I might be interested in that chassis if it's still available. My shop is in Portland, but I live in Seattle, so it would be both convenient and smogable. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Though I already have one in similar condition, I might well decide to do two projects with different directions.

A '75 car will be smog-exempt next year: current year minus 29 = exempt.
