HEY RAMBLERS!
The hotel will garentee a room at the discount rate until 25 September. After that, it will depend on vacancy. It may be difficult to assure a room is available, especially on Thursday, but the rate will apply to rooms they can book after the 25th too if there is vacancy. I've been having a blast pre-running the "scenic tour" route. It is really scenic in an Alabama way. Winding narrow isolated mountain roads coming down into a pristene valleies with horses and cows and plenty of trailer homes and old rusty (hehe) vehicles. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Speaking of Rusty, he has been pre-running the route to Jack Danials and Lynchburg. Despite my fears that the route might cause a late lunch, he has assured me "there was PLENTY of time" at the pace he ran. Hmmmm. Hahah Things are coming together well. We have volunteers (some...), lots of infrastructure support (awnings, tables, chairs) from PCA. Food venues are just about cemented. Experts are lined up for the tech sessions. Quizes and car show rules prepared. And of course these dizzying drives on Friday and Saturday are all set, only to be topped off by the SCCA autocross Sunday. OH. And the Stuff! The cool trophies and all those door prizes. Better leave a little extra room for the trip home. My biggest problem will be getting everybody's name right. MAYBE, by sunday.... |

It looks like Ed and I are coming. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Most likely flying to Nashville Thursday night and driving straight to the Marriott, and staying at least partway through the autocross Sunday. Anyone got a loaner-teener (leaner)? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I'll be glad to lend you my car for a run or two on Sunday, and Saturday I'll be in the recovery truck so you can drive my teener to Lynchburg too- but I may ask you to share it if others come in needing a horse to ride.

We both may need co-drivers for some of the events. Why aren't you bringing a 914? |

Why aren't you bringing a 914? a ) it won't fit in my carry-on bag. b ) the boss won't give me enough vacation to drive down and back. c ) I haven't been out of state with the street car - ever. d ) can't afford the gas to tow the race car (not that it isn't in pieces in my garage) e ) all of the above. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I do have a 914 that'll fit in my carry-on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) I have a spare '73 2.0l with 911 suspension you can use if ya fly into Memphis. You will either have to hook up the injection system or put the carbs I have on it. Also got another one too but have to get a motor stuck in it if Jake and I get it taken care of in time. |

I have a spare '73 2.0l with 911 suspension you can use if ya fly into Memphis. I really appreciate the offer but already bought the plane tickets to Nashville. Its amazing how the ticket prices work. 2 round trip tickets from Hartford to Nashville for less than $400 total cost. We change planes in Atlanta, but if we bought tickets just to Atlanta on the same flight our cost would more than double. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) The added time of layover + connecting flight is about the same as the increased driving time from Atlanta would be. So, in essence, the airline pays for all our gas and then some. |

Hi Bill,
We're asking folks to make payment by the 15th. If you need to send a check or need to delay that, please let me know offline. Oh... get your hotel reservations in as soon as you can. I'm confident that Scott has our room blocks under control! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) -Rusty |

Ok...I'll just make the payment today. Should be a fun road trip Rick! I may have to stay close to the mothership on the way down. I have always believed in flying in a protective "box" formation.
