For the Memphis group. Me and Bill and our better halves won't be meeting you. My broken axle caused a late start. We are still 9 hours away. See you all there! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

ramble ON!
Oh its good so far. We (OK, Brett) pulled the enginge from Rusty's car during the tech session, and then got it back in, running, shifting, and not "blowed up" in a couple of hours. Had a big crew here in the "Ramble Room" until midnight when hotel security told us it was time to "break the party up." Damn, I haven't had a party busted in 25 years. I feel young again! Of course we had rain, and I totally screwwed up leading people to AND from Brets shop, so we had people lost all over north Alabama for awhile. They are probably still cussing my name. Y'know, you just can't keep 15 cars together for long. Sorry. So tomorrow is the car show. If it stops raining, I guess there will be a mass car washing event for awhile, then the car show. Then the autocross class, lunch and a very twisty tour. If it is still raining, we won't do the tour. It would be terrifying, but I believe the rain has stoppped and should have passed to the east. We will have some pics coming soon. Its good to be a teener today! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

cross-posting to both RCR threads in the hopes that someone will see this before the dinner tonight...
I just flat hit a wall on getting stuff done (finding out the Subie is probably -not- actually repairable (frame unibody damage...) after putting in a bunch of effort and $1000 in suspension parts was the final straw. So - I don't have anything to show you guys tonight. Pisses me off but a man's gotta know his limitations... I will still deliver a painting to -someone-. This is Rusty's call and I'll be PM'ing him directly. Maybe he'll just toss an envelope into the hat, maybe he'll have something else planned. I donno. Unsurprisingly the insurance company is dragging their feet - I know how their game is played. But that is a story for a different thread... |

I arrived back home a few hours ago, safe and sound. The 914 is running great!
In my opinion the Rocket City Ramble was a extremely well organized and very enjoyable event. The team obviously put ALOT of effort into the planning. I want to express my thanks to the organizing team and to the sponsors for providing such wonderful items. GREAT JOB BY ALL! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) I only took a few pictures. Some of the other folks took alot of pics. Hopefully they'll post some when they return from the event. Folks had a great time at the car show Attached image(s) |

Doug,
Glad to hear you made it home safely. We had a great time as well. This was a well orgnanized event and if you weren't there, you missed a good time. Thanks again to Rusty, Scott, Brett, and Sam or working so hard to make this happen. Here are a few pictures. The first is Betty's beautiful Phoenix Red 914-4. Attached image(s) |

This is what an LS6 engine looks like when it's crammed into a 914. A wild ride now doubt.

I would like to take a ride in the white beast after he gets all the bugs worked out. I have been needing some face wrinkles removed! I really want to thank all of the great folks up in Huntsville PCA and the volunteers who did such a great job putting on this event. Being one of the newbies to 914 rambles it was really nice the attention to detail. I really enjoyed meeting all of you 14ers also. This has got me all GEEKED up to get the bugs out of my car. I hope that I will see y'all again soon. I can say that in Al. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)
