Have you guys ever done one here in SLO town? We have great cool weather, Big Sur (Redwoods) is 100 miles away through one of the best sections of hwy 1, awesome food, good hotels with parking lots that host car groups all the time, and Buttonwillow is pretty close.
Oh and hot chicks... we have lots (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Edit: Count me in for helping out as well, organizing a drive, food, whatever... |

SLO was brought up as a possibility for this past WCR too. I think we should probably be a tad bit closer for the PNW guys though. But SLO is def a very nice place. Tahoe would be nice. Monterey could also work, or Medford.
Though, where ever we decide, I'll help out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

I would like to see Monterey with the Histerical or ALMS races. It's a county park with lots of camping on site.

Another option is Paso Robles, just north of SLO on the central California coast. Great wine, great Porsche roads, (peachy canyon) an airport that might allow an auto cross, (I can look into that). Streets of Willow is close and Button Willow is even closer. The local chapter of the Porsche club has a DE event at Button every year although everyone had a great time at Streets this year. German Parts and Restoration is close by with a TON of 914 parts.
Where ever we decide, I'll definately be there. I've been to every one since 2004 and it's always a great time. Cheers, Elliot |

My parents went through Paso Robles on their way home last week, said it was 105 degrees! Amazing since by the time they got back to Grover Beach, it was 61 and foggy.

Paso would probably be a good area. I know slo has alot of cops (drinking in the parking lot would not fly in slo)
But still close enough. Buttonwillow is nearby, we can also take the route that Targa California did going to fort hunter liggut to the 1 up to monterey, then take the backroad to greenfield. It was a fun scenic drive |

(drinking in the parking lot would not fly in slo) Depends... if we let the city know about the event and have all the permits ready... I would be happy to look into that BTW... then it shouldn't be a problem. SLO has little gatherings that quaffe wine and eat stinky cheese all the time and they love to promote this place as a destination spot for groups like ours. In fact many of you may already know this but the 356 alternates each year SLO and Cambria. I believe they have wine, beer and all the usual party stuff. Paso is great too but there is the possibility of it being hot. The paso Wine fest was this last weekend as well and it got up to 105 in some spots. Elliot- You mentioned having a connect with the airport, I would really like to get a/x dates going here would you be interested in working on that with me? Also do you own a white 74 that is often parked near the Firestone Walker Brewery? |

I like how everyone's preference on where the event should be is always closest to them.
My vote is Medford. Don't look at where I live! Guilty as I charged myself! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) |

Harry: Oh yeah, and go where? Where are we gonna go?
Lloyd: I'll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen. I like the idea! (still want it in Medford) |

Okay....chiming in.
"It's a penny for your thoughts and I'm giving my 2 cents worth!" The WCR= West Coast Ralley. I have never attened.....YET. But I think there needs to be a "rotation" of states. In 2008 it was WA. 2009 it was Cali. (That's all the knowledge I know.) I think the rotation should go: WA CA OR REPEAT. There are some great ideas out there and excitement is HIGH right after the event. I think Medford (or Oregon location) is the place for 2010 and the "on-deck" is WA for 2011. The Lake Tahoe is a grand idea from the postings and interest, so I say that is 2012 in Cali and prep work should start and someone elected to start the planning. Also, someone in Seattle should start planning for 2011 and can report of the progress at the 2010 Medford event. IF someone wishes to host it outside of the rotation; it should be presented and added to the rotation at the concensus of the group. I SAY: MEDFORD, OR. Let the group in OR be the host and set up the weekend. There should be some pressure to make this event a bigger and bigger success every year it returns back to your home state! phew............... Sorry Mark but it is not that easy. Unless you are going to run the hole show (2010-2012). The planning that took us into the WCRamble of 2009 only took 9 months and that was too much for some of the committee members(it ended with 2 and Betsy). Trying to get the PCA to help with an A/X I was told sure we will be glad to help. By the time I got their help it was March(I rented The Streets in Nov.). But now I can get them to give my an A/X in a month for $2,500. Far less than The Streets. Also you have to have the money up front as most of the registrations come in after registration is colsed.
