for years I've chuckled whenever my eyes have come across the "coat hangers" in our cars. But until today I'd never taken that next step and actually tried to use them. On my way home from work today I stopped to pick up some dry cleaning and on the way out to the car, I smiled to myself and thought "alright, let's see if this thing works or not".

I can now confirm that it is not possible to hang a hanger on our coat hook. at least not w/o bending the hanger significantly.

hmmpf. so much for german engineering, I guess. smile.gif

They're not meant to be used with an actual coat hanger.

They're meant to be used without, just using the fabric strap and work fine that way.

I have never noticed one. I had to go look for myself.

Just above the upper seatbelt mount on the trim piece. It's a metal hook with a removable plastic cover.

Nice pic Andy. Note the x below and left of the Phillips screw. I have a similar scar on my index finger from a Phillips screwdriver that slipped and made its mark!
bradtho
I hear you Andy but how does this work on the driver's side hook? Or is this feature only for use by people five feet tall or shorter?

not that there's anything wrong with being short, of course.

For a nice suit or sport coat for my biz meetings, I'd lay it flat across the rear truck floor, which then made me keep the trunk clean, or flat on the passenger seat.

But keep a wire coat hanger handy if you ever lock your key in the car! biggrin.gif

And then you are locked out of your car with a hanger inside!
I found that hanging file folders do wonders. Pull the metal strip out and have at it.

I keep a yardstick with a leather loop on the end in my trunk, you can use it to unlatch the front of the top or roll down the windows if you can catch it right, if your top side seals are bad.

Not that I ever lock my car anymore.

I used my harness bar last time I picked up my uniforms from the cleaners. I tried the coat hanger, but it is impossible to use with a coat hanger.

I've seen pictures of that before (probably yours) and thought that might be a good idea. More convinced of that now. from a listening perspective have you liked that position? I've been a little afraid they could be harsh being that close to the ears and that far from woofers.
StratPlayer
Yes I like them there very much first.gif
