I guess i should have been more clear, the point here is that this may be one of the very few factory pink raspberry cars.

I know that raspberry was a special order on 911's back in the day.
Early 80's I believe. I have pics of one at a PCA event. The black on the Fuchs was replaced with
raspberry colour as well. All factory. Wonder if it's same paint code as the 911 was.
Never offered for 914 as far as I remember.
Mike Fitton
My guess, it is not original paint with the back bumper painted to match.
EdwardBlume
The white seats make me suspicious....
Andyrew
Thats not white, thats dirt... Its been sitting for years.

Maybe 8 miles from me. If I get a chance I'll swing by next week and check it out.

Early non appearance group cars had the bumpers painted to match.

Looks like an early one seat, painted bumper, no trim car with very faded red paint.
Aren't they early heat exchangers ?
I like me the early ones.

well the HE is not straight pipe, so it is 1.7/1.8 and also the engine, if there is engine.

MOST pick n pulls are gravel in California with the isles being tarmac. Only seen concrete in the bay area.

If you exit Alameda off of the 405, swing west and pass 223rd St., throw a high 5 at the intersection...sacred grounds of the once infamous Lions Dragstrip. Where the idea of the rear engine dragster was conceived by Don Garlits driving.gif

I thought the rear engined dragster was thought up by Garlits as he lay in a hospital bed recovering from having his foot cut in half from an exploding clutch plate... that would have been more than enough incentive for me! shades.gif

Accident occurred on the Lions strip, rumor that he was not running an approved scattershield as well. I ran the track the very next morning.

Sounds like dialog from a SNL skit "The Californians"
Yeah, take the 405 to......
PS I hear the Garlits Museum in Florida is really cool.
My brother went there and the man himself was out back working on a project.
Not a 914

This is what were looking for guys. Code 98 on the paint tag. Get the vin. and the chassis #

Look where the sun can't fade the color. This is one of three known. One was repainted painted black and one was cut up for parts. I've owned 2 of the three and the two I have are one vin # apart.

OK, No rare Raspberry 914 here.

Add VIN in the data base. I don't see it.

It is a 1970 in Blue metallic. Build date 11/70

Rear bumper is from a 72 or 73 painted chrome. (I picked it) rear valence is a late one and trashed.

Engine and trans are in it. Looked like a 1.7

Had middle seat seat belt, but not Porsche part.

Center console tray was not an early one.

Had passenger side sail panel TV antennae ! (Broken)

Rear glass is good.

Riviera wheels on front. Did not have a lug wrench. Not sure if they are special or just aftermarket.

Had the early middle vent dash, but it was pretty cracked up.

I also grabbed the early passenger seat. Back pad is gone as is the early Targa top.

Brakes are all there as are all the suspension.

Doesn't a build date of 11 / 70 make it a '71 ?
Also the third digit of the VIN being a 1 ..... make it a '71 ?
Dave_Darling
Yes, it's a 71. Usually (don't know if always) the builds for the next model year started after the August break.

How was the targa bar pad? I may have to go down just for nuts and bolts.....those are getting harder to find.

I owned a 1973 raspberry 2.0. bought it in Utah in 1983. Sold it in Virginia in 1985 (circa). I hated to see it go, but was young and needed money. It was an awesome car and in great condition. Original paint.

There were two others in Utah, both factory raspberry. One was totaled in the front around 1986. The third had a slant nose job done on it. It was all the craze back then. those are the only three I have seen in person.

I think the one I sold might have gone to Pensacola. Sold it to someone going in the Navy.

I have one with my copper metallic - came with the car when it was brought east by the P.O. a marine at 29 palms California - but the top is an early top but fits o.k. enough - use it in the hotter days keep the air moving with out exposing my head to the full heat of the sun. it is heavy though. I would say the moon roof doubles the weight of the top.
