My blower motor never worked and I took my tank out and painting my trunk. So I took out the blower cleaned the terminals were it gets juice and it ran good, it's kinda of firm to spin but seems ok. Is there a good alternative to a $90 Bosch motor just don't want to have to pull my tank later. What's the chance of the old one lasting? Thanks

Have you oiled it?
I will give you a pass here.
Does it work?
If yes, install it and keep working.
If no, replace it.
It takes about 15 minutes to remove a fuel tank, maybe another ten to get that motor out.

Have you checked the relay? My fan did not work and I found out after some investigation that the relay was bad. Now my fan works fine and it was an easy fix.

The motors are strong, you need to look inside if you feel it is hard to rotate. When I tore into mine as a non-running unit, I had power to the fan, but did not go. Years of pine needles and other debris had found their way into the impeller and broken a few housing bits, that in turn wedged themselves perfectly stopping the rotation. after a good cleaning and new brushes motor runs good. Some plastic welding of the housing and then I added the black aluminum window screen over the stock inlet grill under the body vents that I read about here. You might be able to see through the two drain outlets before splitting the housing. My experience 2p

Try removing the ashtray and cleaning the slider contacts.

I agree with cleaning the slider contacts. This fixed my problem and was recommended to me by Brad Meyer. I removed the foam from a 1 in foam brush and wrapped the plastic with cotton cloth and used fluid film sprayed on the cloth to clean.

Also, I found this website today. Has anyone used them? they have a complete fan and just the motor... only a $50 savings IIRC.
