Looks like 168.3 HP, 153.4 TQ

That would sure scoot a 914! A lot cheaper than a /6 conversion that's for sure!

Lets see if I took all of the receipts for the money I spent on my car I am not sure it would total up to that. Would be tough to convince the Insurance company that the engine was worth more than the car!

But Would love to "have" to convince them.

That’s what the engine paperwork/receipt is for.

The 70 barn find I got last year?

Boomingbeetle
I found one in LA area last year and jumped on it. It was built in 2013 and never uncrated. The person who commissioned it for a 912 fell onto hard times and liquidated all his Porsche items. He was not able to find much in the way of papers, just his original estimate before he upgraded some things. Unfortunately I don’t havy the dyno sheet, but when I called Raby’s shop they told me that engine number was a 2430cc when I thought I was buying a 2270! Darn biggrin.gif

Nice motors drooley.gif ... I'd use the CSP bell crank throttle linkage though.

LOVE the CSP but it is had to second guess the Tangerine Racing set up. When I had my carbs it was flawless!

Not too hard, that's what stated value is for!

The motor for sale in this thread , the 2270cc has cast iron cylinders...price would be way higher with nickies.

Way higher then 13k . Are you for real

I thought all raby motors had nikkis . Is this a raby build motor etc

Or just a raby inspired build ?

Raby motors used to start around $12-13k. Nickies were extra. Now his builds start around $20k with nickies.

Sorry photos aren't better.

Someone asked if it's Raby built or Raby inspired. It's Raby built with COA, owner's manual. dyno testing at aircooled technologies, and receipts. Not the prettiest motor, but it could easily be set up anyway you want. I have a DTM Jake Raby shroud in my garage too, or you could do 911 style upright cooling. Or paint/powder coat to match car. Up to you. It's what's inside that counts.
mepstein
I'm shocked this hasn't sold yet.

I note that the printing on the tags is from the same person that did the printing on the other person (Boomingbeaetle) Raby Engine shown with paper card tags, why do you think that the nuts holding the carburetors are not on? Also see the spring on top of one of the air filter.

Just thinking. Thanks,

Bob B

So the paperwork you have is a little blurry, or maybe it's just my eyes, so I wondered if you have a "build date" on the engine? Also, was it built for you or did you acquire the engine from someone else?

Thanks.
zig-n-zag
78 stroke with 96 bore works out to 2258cc and Jake uses a gold-foiled seal...
zandstra
This motor was built for a 914 from a 914 Porsche core motor. Life caught up with the PO and he never finished the project so I bought it 2 years ago and test fit it in my '65 3 gauge 912 (exactly as is with stock 914 cooling. It fit fine, just like a 912e, but ultimately I went with a 2.6 lt FAT Performance with 911 cooling (see photo). My restorer may have loosened the cards to dry fit the motor in the 912. We removed the motor and put in the 2.6 and I was contemplating putting the 2270 in a 356 (I own 4 at the moment that are all being restored... one at a time), I would need to convert it to a vintage type iv upright look (see photo) and decided that I didn't want to start taking apart something that Jake built and tuned for a 914, so I listed it here. I am currently having 2 relatively stock/tame 914 1.8 (built to 2.0) transformed into the vintage look to go in two of the 356 cars. So that's my story. Like I said, if your nearby and want to see the motor I'm happy to show it to you. Oh, I'll check on the build date next time I'm at the shop.
zandstra
2258? Gold foil seal? Just do a web search for raby 2270 and you'll see it's his favorite build and listed on his website right now... aircooled technologies.
zandstra
Zig-n-zag (aka 2258 gold foil guy). Are you in Hawaii right now? Do you have the Raby motor that's listed on the Samba for $20,000? Did you factor in deck height when you did your math for 2258?

euro911
It states 2270 on Jake's documentation in post# 6

I know several of you have seen this on thesamba and elsewhere for $11,995. I'd rather sell it here., but am open to suggestions/offers. Thanks
Jake Raby
The engine is my 2,270cc. l use a 78.4mm crank, which achieves the additional displacement above 2,258cc.
zandstra
Thanks Jake. I appreciate the confirmation.

Mark,

The link is not right for me, or it it takes me to the wrong place. Thinking of this engine for my 70 car.
