Hi Everyone

Does anyone have a good side view picture of a GT flared 914 with matching rocker panels? I can only find angled side view pictures. I'm trying to understand the contour of the fender flare to rockers flare alignment and wheel well arch line. I purchased mb911 rocker flare end pieces and I'm trying to install them.

Here’s a pic on a private built GT. Just remember that the fiberglass rockers of the GT’s didn’t match the contours well and even had variations in length from left to right. You have the chance to make your rockers fit better than the factory ever did.

Thanks. Hopefully we can get some examples of more accurately installed rockers. I'm converting stock rockers with mb911's flare ends.

I have a set of them as well. Hopefully I can get Ben to weld them up for me some day. I would imagine you clamp the ends to your rockers, move them around until they look right and then cut the rocker and weld on the ends.

I'm assuming the same but I'm not 100% sure of final product look. I would be happy with 98.9% accuracy

The install of flares can be off an inch or so and each car is different. Test fit. Then cut and weld.

I had to do extensive rework to get my GT rockers to fit properly and they were not the same from side to side. As mentioned all the GT fender extensions were fitted a bit differently depending on the fabricator.

My body guy did a great job fabricating mine. Both sides were different and it did take some time.

The key is how the GT flares are put on and then the rocker fit up to that flare. There really wasn't a good fit up even when you look at factory cars. When we made the steel weld on ends we copied the fiberglass flares but those were copies of the original. There seems to be different degree of fit and finish on the fiberglass. The steel ends are still a much better option to fiberglass. AA really likes them if that means anything.. They fit just as fiber glass does in the curvature and transition. A couple people have made 1 offs that are incredibly nice but probably cost 4 or 5 times my flares in labor costs . I made ours as a superior product to fiberglass but not as far as some have done with 1 offs that would not have been cost effective for 90% of the folks doing the GT treatment.

So I’ve been looking everywhere for a decent picture of a good side view of a flared 914 to better understand the rocker panel I’m currently in the middle of fitting. I even went to the Peterson Museum to in hopes of seeing a flared 914! Awesome place with tons of crazy automotive history but poor representation of 914’s I figured they would at least have one 914 but nope , nada!

So here is where I’m currently at with my fab work on my rocker panels. Please feel free to criticize my work, seriously! I know a lot of you always hold back but your constructive criticism will be appreciated!

Do you mean its tilted downwards? How about the wheels arch line, does it look correct?

I think it looks pretty darn good. The rear portion might be canted but could be optical illusion.

Just remember when it's covered with burnt rubber the tiny details won't seem that important
