Probably the saddest thing I have seen. There is not a bolt left to turn.

Wow, that is sad. I doubt there is a single part that can be saved based on how hot it looks like it got.

agree.gif most of our cars in progress don’t carry insurance. Check with your homeowners to see if you are covered.

This is very true. I have my insurance through State Farm and when we had the big fire here in December of 2017, I called to verify what would happen. I was told that home owners would not cover the car and for a nominal $6.00 a month more, I would be covered if the house burned down. After agreeing on a stated price / value for the car, I think I ended up paying something closer to $7.50 a month.

Very small per month cost and coverage if you ever need it because home owners (at least mine) would not have covered it. And well worth it if you have to file a claim.

This is something that happens all the time. Guys spend years on restorations or conversions and a fire, fallen tree or flood take it all out in minutes.

This is an issue we all need to consider. I have a Hagerty policy on my car with a stated value. Even though I expect the shop in VA had adequate insurance coverage, I was always a bit anxious as it was not my policy and I did not know any details. So once Hagerty agreed to cover it, I was much happier and relaxed. Once it is a roller again and in color, I will increase coverage and send them new photos to support that increase. bye1.gif

When mine is going to be down for awhile, I drop my coverage to Comprehensive (also called Other Than Collision) for about $6/month with State Farm.

I work in insurance claims, and have never heard of a homeowner's policy that would cover a vehicle.

I bought some coverage that would cover my non running projects. Basically cover the value of parts stored in my garage and workshop.

Yes my car too was burnt in a barn fire... I got most of what I had put into it out... but not by todays pricing... But now I go with Haggerty! I have yet to rebuild a car dry.gif dry.gif I have two more chassis... but building up the place and all associated things have kept me from working on the 914
