And since the Route 66 Classic is the kick off for the event season. shades.gif
We really ought to set the proper tone and start with something epic! first.gif

How about a 914 mile, 5.0 day, 4 night, 3 time zone, 5 state, traveling party. cheer.gif

Of course there will be event shirts this year. (It's a tradition.)
However, things will be a bit different this time. happy11.gif

Shirts will be FREE! flag.gif

The catch is that there will be only 10 shirts produced.
They will be awarded to the first 9 people to join the tour. smilie_pokal.gif
(Size request will be accepted to skew my order.) Red or Black.
914 Ranch
When traveling across the country I use 40 and stop in Amarillo at Tyler's. He runs out of baby backs by 3 every day. He is one of the 2 places that I considered to make ribs better than mine. The Shed is better because they never run out of baby backs. Something I try not to do.

I've made reservations in Amarillo and Albuquerque. I'll head back to STL on Tuesday as I have an appointment on Thursday.

John-

I’m following this thread, but can’t commit to attending right now.
Time will tell.

My 2 yr old grandson remains in treatment battling Leukemia. (Cancer sucks!!!)
So I can’t stray too far.

Thanks for stepping up and heading RT66 this year. beerchug.gif

Betty read this thread the other day and mentioned it to me.

If we come, we get to drive to Amarillo first, 5 h 21 min (343 miles) . Then coming home, it is 17 h 30 min (1,150 miles) from Laughlin, NV. to our house. That makes for a long trip for two 914s without co-drivers. Got to take two days. And the 4.0 engine doesn't get the best mileage either.

VegasRacer
Steve - Fabulous. I will see you in Colorado Springs for the Treffen. I sent you a PM with my phone number.

Oscar - Commitment?!? No one will ever question your commitment to the 914 community. icon22_2.gif You also have your priorities in the proper order. Family first.
I sincerely hope you can join us. Even if only for a day.

Clay & Betty - Please join us in Amarillo. (When has a 914 event ever been closer?) You don't have to make the entire run, start to finish. (In fact, I never expected that anyone would be crazy enough to do the full distance with me.) I will promise you that the drive from Las Vegas to Albuquerque, above and around Santa Fe, will be the best 914 roads on the entire tour. (Not counting the short banzai run into Oatman.) MDB2.gif

We did a drive up to Winslow late last summer from Scottsdale with a small group and ate at the La Posada. Definitely recommended...

I'd probably head up to my place in Payson for a couple days, then run up to Winslow on Tuesday, May 5th.

Is that serious about starting in St. Louis next year? There's limited opportunity for involvement in such events here in Tulsa (through which, incidentally, Route 66 passes).

Google tells me it is 395.6 miles from Tulsa to St. Louis and only 365.4 miles to Amarillo. poke.gif

My hope was that if it started in St. Louis, and possibly went west, it would be heading in this direction.

I just saw this. Sorry, I don't think its going to happen. We both agree... a 914 loaded up with tools, spares, and luggage is limited fun on the twisty roads.

But it would be fun seeing y'all.

Clay

I’m just north of STL in IL along Route 66. Please let me know where to find more info about next years event starting in STL

headbang.gif headbang.gif headbang.gif (I blame @Larmo63 , he is the instigator that got me in this mess.)

1.) This forum is the place to find information about all future Rallies, Tours, Treffens, Classics, Rambles and other 914 events.

2.) I can assure you that if I am the one planning, we will not be starting in St. Louis. If we are going that far, we are gonna do it proper and drive the additional 300 miles to start in Chicago at the beginning of Route 66.

3.) Don't give up hope. A few months ago nobody would have believed that we would be starting in Amarillo this year.

4.) There is nothing stopping you from organizing a midwest / eastern Route 66 event.
