The battery cover shown above is the earlier style from the first recall 9J in October 1970. The later HO recall in 1977 featured the later smooth top style battery cover which just snapped on and did not have the rubber band. Of course either is correct for a 914 but if your car was around for the 1977 HO recall that’s the most current version, especially if you have the HO sticker in the front trunk.

211 in it means its a type 2 part i believe. originally was meant for a bus (kombi).
the 411 numbers at end are used right through 70s and 80s for various battery covers in various model VWs.
im guessing the original battery cover part listed in PET (the smaller one) was superceded with the bus one and the bus one probably got developed a little later than during 914 production run.
its a real deal thats for sure.
