Full Version: Type4 blower assmbly block off plates?

I've got some of the block off plates for the sheet metal on the way from bdstone. Does anyone make a good solution for the openings on the front blower assembly if you're not using heat exchangers? Would replace the little flaps.

Just bought these from Maddog- they cover all 6 holes in the firewall.

EDIT: sorry completely misunderstood the question. You may still need these, though, if you take out the heater tubes, etc. up front.

Leave they open. Blocking them disrupts the air flow inside of the shroud. If you really want to block them you need to make plates to go onside the fan shroud leading to the ports to the S branches.
Under operation with heat exchangers they have air flowing out except when the electric fan creates a higher pressure closing the flaps for more heat at low engine RPM's.

Figured if I blocked them off it would allow more cooling air to go to the oil cooler and cylinder fins instead of just out to the atmosphere under the car. I realize if you still have the heating system and it is off it eventually just vents outside anyway but figured anything could help an AC'ed car, especially in Arizona!!!

Just blocking them off will have a negative effect on cooling. Think about what happens when air is blown into a blind hole.

Do you run an oil temp gauge? It you can hit over 250 under sustained griving you need more oil cooling.
