Looking for the best source for rebuild parts for
914-4's. Also looking for high quality red caliper paint. What brake pads seem to work best without squeaking me to tears? Don't care about pad life. Any rotor mods that make you happy? thanks. BTW FREE 914 still lives. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool_shades.gif) |

Trekkor,
our buddy Mark posted a few days ago about buying several rear brake rebuild kits. Give him a call and we can order a set for you also. B |

Brad,
Should I get too crazy trying to mod the stock 4 set-up. I find no problems as is with functioning units. The expense of SS lines, drilling etc., will be worth the time? Trekkor |

No. Leave them alone. If you want to do something buy some cheapy brake ducts and channel some cool air to them.

Well, simalar Question, but different Brake. I started tearing down my 911/frt. equiped with S calipers and was wondering aside from the usual seals I see there is a SS piston kit available for them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
Is this advisable? Is there a corrosion issue with the stock Pistons? |

The stock pistons do pit and rust. I personally would rebuild them using the SS pistons just to be on the safe side.

my front left caliper squeals while driving.
when brakes are applied- no squeak. with car lifted it's evident that there is slight binding ( piston not returning? ) is this a good enough reason to rebuild or are there other solutions? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) trekkor |

Rebuilding calipers is always a good idea if you question their functioning. Front calipers are super easy to rebuild (pop out pistons, replace seals, put pistons back in) and having calipers that work to their full potential is dy-no-mite!

Do you wanna rebuild the rear caliper adjusting mechanism? It's $25 per kit just for that. It doesn't include the piston seals and such, that's a separate kit.

Speaking of brake caliper parts... are there SS pistons for 914-6 calipers?
