Got my new store bought Hi Po starter, much smaller and lighter. How or what is the best way to get to the top bolt on the starter mounting??? My arms seem to be 3 inches too short no matter what attack pattern I use, and I know there must be another 'Short Armed' guy out there. No cracks from the Navy guys!! Bob

You remove the top bolt from inside the engine bay. yes...just changed my starter too. I removed the nut off the bolt from/in the engine compartment. Then went under the car and removed the second (bottom) bolt. The top bolt is pretty long and holds the starter in place pretty nicely. installation is opposite....mister Crusty suggested putting some "dum dum" on the head of the top bolt to hold her in place when re-installing. Really was a piece of cake.... ....making sure you don't leave the red alternator dangling behind the starter was the only dum dum thing I did.... |
