Probably not. The historical pictures show that the 'original' GT engine lids were made from two pieces of screened metal crimped in the middle.

The mesh material is not the deciding factor, it is the beveled lip on the forward part of the engine lid

GMS, I noticed that the diamond mesh is oriented forward in the above picture,
instead of side to side. Was that always the case ? Nevermind, the shot is rotated. |
