Does anybody have a source for an audio antenna that would adhere to the inside of the rear window glass - like the newer cars. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/type.gif)

I remember years ago they had a tape one you could put along the windshield but I havent seen them in years. They were not very good as I recall. I am not going to run an antenna on mine unless I have to. I got an indash MP3 player and will just play CD's all the time. I hate commercials anyway. One CD will play for 10 hours. I will never be in the car that long.

Just pick up a 916 windshield as the radio antenna is bonded in the glass so no unsightly antenna mast mounted on the fender.

iamchappy - that looks like a good solution, where did you get that and how much?

Geoff - is "midnight auto supply" a joke, like five finger discount from the wrecking yard? I did a quick Yahoo search and did not come up with any stores with that name. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif)

Yes, they sell CD players for $20 too. There were only 11 916's made so try to find a windshield for one. I have called before but maybe Porsche Classic still carries them.

The windshield mount antenna was found at a local Flaps, dig around in the audio areas of the parts store there bound to have one. Cheap under 20 bucks, it's amplified so I have found the signal is very good. And is less conspicuous than the photo shows, although it was the first thing Qarl pointed out in the car with a " whats that " mostly because it has a tiny red led that shows its powered up.

I just checked the local Kragen store. In Stock, $14.99. The model is Metra CKUA200. Thanks for the info. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rocking nana.gif)

I do enjoy the free revving engine sounds of my stock 1.7 FI, but every once in a while I need to listen to some tunes. (alpine deck with infinity 5.25 in door (cut-outs compliments of PO))

I mounted a jiffy electric antenna on mine. I kinda like the modern concept of the antenna disapearing. But after reading this post it may be nice not havint that chrome thing in your view when your driving and tidy up the fender a little too. I think my eletric antenna is too long looking on my little 914 anyway. And look how much faster my 80hp will push me without that fishing rod sailing in the air. Yea I will talk myself into it yet. Just kidding about the faster part!
