I think synthetics are not considered good for our old engines. I like a low detergent oil for an engine with a lot of miles. Main thing is to keep it changed regularly.

i never saw any difference whatsoever with the "high mileage" Valvoline we ran for a while in the Nissan Valdez.

just go with a nice straight 15-50 synthetic and call it good.
if you can find it, Royal Purple gets good reviews in T-IV's.
i've never seen any in person, and i don't have a T-IV, so i can't say for sure.
