Hi all.. I am trying to verify that the pair of green Bilstein front struts I have were indeed offered as optional equipment for the 914 (probably the '73-'74 2.0 models).
If anyone has a 914 with this option, please respond. Also, it would be very helpful to see a pic of it on the 914 ( pull a front wheel ? ), showing the 914 part number. TIA... Terry |

Does any other World member have the green Bilstein front struts (HOUSINGS) ? Or am I the lone ranger? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I do. Was on the LE when I restored the car. I replace them with Boges with Bils inserts.Still have um in a box. Intended to replaced rebuild but I think the inserts/parts were the stumbling block. Its been a while. I think the inserts are still available but with only 911 valving |

According to 914 Tech Tips 700 by G. Hussey: 1st edition I think :
237. (page 44) ALL 914 front strut inserts will interchange with the '69-'84 911 insert types. 367 (page 66 ) The best 914 to buy, besides a 6-cylinder, is a '73-'74 914 2.0 with the BILSTEIN suspension package & front and rear anti-sway bars. My main problem with identification of the ones I have comes from a previous owner marking out the numbers on the Bilstein USA sticker on both struts. I believe this may have been the 914 #. |
