I can't believe this would have come with the car. I was looking for a replacement regulator (found!) In the box o spare parts that came with the car and found this skanky vinyl bag. Any ideas?

Stash bag. Fill it with tools, on top of a nickel bag. Was the 70's afterall. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

That is an original early 914 tool bag '70-'71. Same as the VW tool bags back then.

It sure could have. Wife picked it up at a flea market. I rebuild/build guitars when I can't work on the 914.

That sounds fun! Do you prefer acoustic or electric? Do you carve your own wood and make from scratch? Somehow is just seems natural that a luthier goes hand in hand with restoring 914s.

I mostly restore acoustics (just more available) and build the electrics. I buy blanks from a couple of places and necks from warmoth, do the sanding, assembly, and nitro finish etc myself.

Here is a 1947 harmony I rebuilt from trash.
