I dont' get them either. Get the new AdAware definitions and run AdAware. You've got Xupiter or some Gator type product on your system.

Kafer is right. You've been infected with some kind of spyware - the only pop-up on the site is when you get an instant message.

I found a program named "SaveNow" in the Add/Remove list of a client's computer once. It was a pop-up manager that would look at what page you've gone to, categorize it and call up an ad for that category.
Rather clever programming. Uninstalled it just the same. I don't know if the program self-installed or was inadvertantly installed by the client. God bless Adaware! |

Yep.. try running Spybot (search the archives).
This will help too! You'll be surprised how much spyware is on your computer. Karl |

Mozilla Firebird is a free web browser which allows you to disable javascript popups. It also has a "Block Images From This Server" feature - which stops banner-ads in their tracks as well. Users of IE get what they deserve.

No pop ups Jamie. Somebody using your computer decided you needed to have your clock sync'd and downloaded Gator for you (btw..I know where their corporate headquarters is located) so let me know if you want me to stop by and say hello.

ie does increase the fequency of popup crap.
the best cure is to shut the damn thing off. i fixed a dryer belt ( blindfolded, as a bet ) for a friend and he said the fcc will now allow streaming video popups. i'm sure it all boils down to the gubenatorial crap in ca. marey will be straming porn at you to get the vote. |

QUOTE(Brad Roberts @ Aug 20 2003, 02:03 PM) Gator for you (btw..I know where their corporate headquarters is located) so let me know if you want me to stop by and say hello. B Yes Brad, I would love for you to stop by there, and kiss them for me, as them and schmucks like them give me evil to fight, for cash. I tell people the best thing they can do with a popup, is ALT-F4, some install software on a yes, and some on a no. Xupiter is by far the worst offender by not promping for an install, they just pork you, SaveNow being the hardest to stop on an NT based system. M |

There are 2 programs that I got that I would reccomend to anyone.
1) Avant Browser - Like IE, but it kills popups, and has a whole bunch of cool features. 2) Norton personal firewall - I never knew how much spyware I had on my computer! ~Eric |
