Why would the Compu-fire magnetic pickup be different from a Bosch 009 distrib and a vac advance one?

The Compufire is meant to mount to the points plate just like a set of points. The points plate on the 009 is different from the vacuum advance distributor you're thinking of (there are actually quite a few that will fit).

The difference between the two models is the height of the rotating plate with the 4 magnets. The top of one fits higher than the other, sorry I forget which is taller but if use the wrong one either there will be no spark or the center button in the cap will be crushed.

I once used a cheap Accu-fire. After it got warm it started to rub and would not fire. But the accu-fire has only one part for the bosch distributor. Thanks for the tip. I can work with that.
