Yet another example of why the average Joe shouldn't be allowed to buy a CGT without proper performance driving experience. I also believe that any street legal 600hp+ car should have some form of stability management. Anyway, i'm sure thats been debated over and over again. So here's my story:
I took my 914 out for a drive on Long Ridge Road that crosses over the NY/CT border since the weather was so gorgeous. Roads were a little damp, about 63 degrees. Came across this guy in a CGT that decided to drive over a rock wall. See pics here I didn't see any skid marks, not sure what happened. No idea if he lost control, or just drove straight off the road from talking on a cell phone. The road is very windy and a hell of a lot of fun, he came off a mild left hand downhill turn as seen in the pics. I drove by a few times snapped a few pics in chronological order. At least the driver is OK, i wonder what happened.. doesn't look like the car is totaled, but i cant really tell. Anyway... Have a Happy Thanksgiving! At least a happier one that this guy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) |

We have three of them here in the Sacramento area...
One belongs to a restaurant owner. Great restaurant. He snapped his axles at the freakin' drag strip!!! Not sure he knows what the car is really for... Second one belongs to a PCA member. He did something similar. Story is something in the suspension just snapped and he was off into a field with no way to stop. Also not hurt. He is a very good performance driver. Porsche came and got the car to take it back to Germany for an autopsy. Third one belongs to another PCA member who is also a very good performance driver. In fact he owns at least 3 914's. nothing but a rock chip in his. New windshield was about $4K if I recall... |

Thats crazy, I couldnt even envision how he would have done that! Unless the curvy road made his blood leave his head and go elsewhere and he passed out!

as my dad once told me,when we saw a wrecked Ferrari on the PCH a number of years ago, "If they could afford a car like that, they can afford to have another one next week"
