would a new balljoint that goes into the bottom of the strut farther than necessary for the wedge pin to install be considered worn?
Gave it a light push during install and found that it would then need to be backed out a tad to install the pin. is this going to leave some slop there? or will the wedge pin hold it properly. I've got a little bit a worry about this. ?? |

Wedge pin is designed to make the ball joint snug in the strut. Wedge pin should be flush with the end of the strut. Do trial fitting and see if you can feel any movement. I have never heard of the end of the strut wearing out but anything is possible after 30+ years.

The wedge pin is what locks it in place Left to Right, and Up and Down.
