OK; I think I have it. Have added the decimal in front of 006" and cleaned up/mocked up the timing marks. The bottom one still looks odd (no separate notch horizontal line like the top, but that's what the original seems to look like). What do you think, @oakpark , @VG-914 and @JeffBowlsby ?

One last set of touch-ups. If interested, also made a parallel one with double lines across the bottom timing mark to match the top, but don't think the original had it.

Final tune up (pun intended) on the sticker image. Sent to member for printing!
Not concours grade by any means, but then neither am I.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

@oakpark , @VG-914 and @JeffBowlsby ;
Haven't seen or heard anything lately, so wondering if there's still any interest in pursuing this. If so, a) is the one shown above sufficient, or b) should I keep pursuing a more intensive cleanup as shown below (redid the letters, numbers and far right graphic)? If b), then could use a bit of others' eyes to figure out what the graphic for the valve clearance should look like - sort of like two arrows showing the gap between two spacing lines? |

QUOTE As a concours guy, I'd like it as original looking as possible @oakpark ; Does that mean leave the age/blurring (e.g. aged original) or continuing cleaning (e.g. as if new original)? Not sure. Thanks. |

It does look pretty good. I think the more crisp it is the better; that is they way the originals were. I don't need the 1.8 since most of mine are 2.0, but I do have some NOS labels from 30 years ago. I think they are all in the parts list above.

I'm having a hard time understanding the detailed lines, working off the wrinkled, dirty photo. Working off a fresh one would really help! Will PM you. |

@davep - I had an idea; if the base images are the same on the 2L sticker (see image above), could I buy one from you?
I'd then do a high-res scan (to get a good, clean and correct base), then overwrite the numbers and letters (which I've already done once, so could easily redo). This, I believe, would provide a clear, accurate reproduction of the 1.8L sticker. If so, I'll PM you my home address. Thanks. |

DONE! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) Have created 3 versions, all at proper size (75mm x 40mm) - 1. Original; 2. Cleaned and 3. Restored. If anyone wants to print, just PM me with your email address and which file you'd like; I'll send the full file to you.
Here they are: 1. Original 2. Cleaned 3. Restored (Don't know why this is showing up in a slightly larger size) Not perfect, but as I noted early on, I'm not a graphic artist and doubt folks could detect glitches in a rather small sticker, in a semi-dark engine compartment. Onward! PS: @VG-914 if you print them, could you send me two? |

Looks good. It does not appear that I have the 2,0 decal either. The little lumps on the side of the distributor are probably the clamps for the cap.

Here it is, with the "clamps" inserted. Haven't done final high-res version, pending any input or other suggestions. Whew!

I can't believe it's been two months since I followed this chain of commentary. I'm very impressed with the work that's been done. I would put my name on the dotted line for a sticker. |
