I have 1" spacers in the front.

Here's mine. I'll pull this photo out later as not to dirty up your thread. I have 16" X8" fronts with 1" Spacers and 16" X9"s on the rear with like 1/4" spacers.

Wow! My fronts are 16X7 as they came from Fuch Wheels. My rears are custom built 16X8.5 wheels made with 4 16X6 Fuch wheels. Harvey says he can chop off the backs of the front wheels and widen them as well without even disturbing the finish on the front of the wheels.

If you're planning to AX that thing do not put spacers on the fronts.
Your 7 inch wheels have increased the positive scrub radius by 3/4".
A 1" spacer would put it up to 1-3/4". You won't like that on tight corners.
There are limitations to the 914 suspensions.....that's one of them.

Increasing the backspacing by more than 1/2" on your front wheels is another.

Interesting day with the "Fat Girl" at the PCA - SVR autocross. Mark and I were both pretty close to FTD on street tires, I may have gotten it in raw time but I think I caught a cone with my left rear in the slalom portion of the course. We both should have gotten 8 runs for a total of 16 on the day. Between the two of us, we got 5. Mark got 3 and I got 2... The fuel pump took a crap... It would get hot and just quit...

I had the same problem on a Worblo (sp) style pump. Turns out the pump expands and the mounting clamps do not. CLamps would jam the pump until it cooled. I moved the clamps the the edges of the pump. problem went away

Oh, BTW... These FTD on Street Tire runs were done with the EFI in your basic 'limp mode'... Mark discovered before his runs that the tuning had scrambled, maybe because of an electrical problem as we also had a blown fuse. We ran the day on closed loop O2 sensor only which is basically an economy mode... Still ran the pants off of it! Great engine!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif)

Explain to me the downsides of the wheel spacers on the front because this is my exact setup and I definitely know they are there, 7" wheels with a 1" spacer. Would this cause more understeer?

Well the Sunday results are in. I was second overall, FTD on Street Tires which is a major accomplishment considering in third place just 3 tenths of a second behind my time was a 911 Turbo. Mark was just a fraction of a second back as well but somehow let a few cars squeeze into the gap between my own time and his.
I am astounded by the car's performance. Remember, we got only 5 runs between the two of us. Mark got three, I got two... The usual winner at SVR events prevailed once again. Our own Steve Neislony in the 21X car. As the eventmaster put it, it was probably the hottest day we've ever had at Mather. Steve uses slicks and when he can get them hot, he puts a lot of time between us. Sunday was no different. Almost 4 seconds up on me... Granted, had we had 8 runs like everyone else we would have whittled that down a bit but it is hard to beat slicks and even harder on a hot day.

I can't wait for the paint either but I am forcing myself to. I have missed too many events over the last few years to blown engines and such... I am going to drive the piss out of it and paint it in the winter next year...
