Official Theme Song of the RCC:
How much tequila did i drink last night? It's really anybody's guess. I poured them so fast, I couldn't keep them in the glass, But this morning i sure am a mess. My head is four or five times its normal size And i got this big old cactus stuck between my eyes. I can't recall a single thing i did or said Or the names of all these people sleeping in this bed. Tell me how, tell me how, tell me how, tell me how, Tell me how much tequila did i drink last night? How did i get these cuts and bruises all over my body? I must have fallen down somehow. I believe it had something to do with karate -- it's all coming back to me now. I was standing in a bar with king kong's cousin, He must have been seven foot three. His elbow gave me a bump, and so i said "hey, chump, Would you like to step outside with me?" Tell me how, tell me how, tell me how, tell me how, Tell me how much tequila did i drink last night? My mouth is filled with cotton and my brain is sore. I left last night's dinner on this morning's floor. My stomach is swollen and my eyeballs shrunk. I drank so much that my hair got drunk. I see a big old worm about ten feet long Hallucinating purple cows. Somebody moved the furniture while i was gone. Uh oh, this is not my house. I could call us a taxi on the telephone If i only knew where we are. I guess i'm gonna have to drive myself back home As soon as i can find the car. Tell me how, tell me how, tell me how, tell me how, Tell me how much tequila did i drink last night? |

I like the idea of leavin thursday before noon on thursday -- Aaron, what time does this first class of yours end?. I can imagine us getting lost on the interstates because we can't see the friggin signs at night. But I'm cool with a late-afternoon/evening departure.
Aaron, if I buy the rubber lines, can you help me move my oil cooler up front? It doesn't need to be perfect, it just has to work. |

I'm tinking we need more discussion on what time to head out for/arrive in Moab. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)
I looked over the RRC itenrary, and noticed that there will be a drive, bbq and beer on Friday (I thought everything was Sat & Sun.). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chowtime.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) So, lets say in order for us to arrive in time to unpack and still do the scenic drive, maybe we should plan on being in Moab between 1 & 3 p.m. Depends on what time the scenic drive starts. I would assume no later than 3 p.m. because it gets dark there earlier. *If you are going on the Scenic Route with John (VegasRacer), skip to the next post. * Between Mapquest and Streets & Trips, it appears that total drive time from Vegas to Moab will be from 6 and half to 7 and half hours. Make it 8 to include gas & food stops. Now, Places we will need to stop for gas will be very limited! Plus depending on what time we leave Vegas, we will need to calculate gas availability because gas stations in Utah close at night. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) The cities we could stop in after Vegas will be either St. George or Cedar City (53 miles apart). Vegas to either city is 1 hr. 45 min. to 2hr. 30 min. We should top off our tanks there because the next major city isn't until Richfield which is another 1 hr. 45 min. *There are a few trucker stops b/w Vegas and Utah and there is one b/w Cedar City and Richfield in case of emergency (like needing to pee (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ). * I personally would like to stop at the indian reservation gas stop just outside of Vegas (if I dont fly by it this time) on our way out and get a carton of smokes for damn cheep, fireworks.......uh....I mean beef jerky and snackycakes. Last track of the route will be from Richfield to Moab, 2 hrs. 35 min. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) There is only one gas station or any other type of civilization on this stretch and this is not until Green River, which is 1 hr. 45 min. (seems like that is the typical distance b/w stations doesn't it?) You would think I have done this route before. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) *If we want to be in Moab between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. , we should leave Vegas between 5:00 - 7:00 a.m.! Replies....................... |

We still have lots of time to decide, and several caravan participants that we have not heard from yet. I hope we can work it out so we can all run together as one big pack. With so many different schedules, I know some people can not leave as early as others. I really would like to get there in time for the RRC group drive on Friday. Noon would be good. Earlier would be better.
It is a good 7 - 8 hours if we go on the Interstates. I we can all leave Vegas at 4:20 AM on Friday, that would put us on target to get to Moab at noon. Right on time. Of course, that also means you guys would have to leave LA at midnight. That would be one heck of a long day. That was one of the reasons I originally suggested going up on Thursday. We could enjoy a leisurly tour on scenic highways and get an extra night of P-A-R-T-Y, plus a good nights sleep to start the fun weekend. Everybody involved - Please sound off. Who can (or wants to) go up on Thurs AM? Who can't make it to Vegas until Friday AM? I hope we can find a plan that will work for everyone. Here is my personal agenda. *(Sometime you can't have everything you want) I want us all to be able to caravan together. (I understand this may not be possible) I would rather take the scenic route. (I don't enjoy driving Elvira on the Interstate for hour after hour) I don't want to miss the Friday aternoon RRC activities. I don't want this to be a bonsai run up and back. (still, that is better than nothing) So??? What do you want? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Is anybody from the CO or AZ or NM or UT caravans reading this thread? When do you plan on getting into Moab? Bottom Line - I still believe everyone meeting in Vegas at 4:20 AM on Friday is our best option. |

Is anybody from the CO or AZ or NM or UT caravans reading this thread? When do you plan on getting into Moab? We haqven't discussed it yet, but my suggestion will be to leave Flagstaff no later than 7am on Friday. It is about a 6 hour drive...give or take a few. Perhaps 4 hours since my car will be a little faster. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif) |

I've discussed this with the passenger... She and I are both opposed to the crack-o-dawn waking hours and would prefer to leave Thursday to get an extra day of partying in. I (like John) would not like to be dead-ass-tired from driving all night and all day, to leave SoCal at midnight (or earlier) then arrive in Vegas, then leave at ~4AM -- undoubtedly if we caravaned as such, we'd all have to sleep as soon as we got there, and would still probably miss the arrival festivities.

Of course, that also means you guys would have to leave LA at midnight. That would be one heck of a long day. It's going to be a long day/drive for the So. Cal. group no matter what time we leave. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) That was one of the reasons I originally suggested going up on Thursday. We could enjoy a leisurly tour on scenic highways and get an extra night of P-A-R-T-Y, plus a good nights sleep to start the fun weekend. The problem is I dont know how many people have rooms reserved for Thursday night. Ron and I do not. Can't get a good nights sleep if yaz sleepin on the asphalt. (some may end up doing that anyway. :casadorez: ) Everybody involved - Please sound off. Who can (or wants to) go up on Thurs AM? Who can't make it to Vegas until Friday AM? I have Thursday off, so I can leave on Thursday. I think Aaron has school on Thursday until..?? We could leave after that. But I think Joe Sharp and Linda work on that day. They have a little farther to drive, so probably won't be to the I15 until about 7:00p.m. Thomas? TrojanDad? Here is my personal agenda. *(Sometime you can't have everything you want) I want us all to be able to caravan together. (I understand this may not be possible) I would rather take the scenic route.
