car was originally L80E (Ivory White) has been repainted at least once or twice in the past in white... plan on painting the car in Grand Prix White (L908) quite a bit brighter than original. should look pretty good with the black bumpers, valences, and negative Porsche stripe. Car is to be a Daily Driver and AX car, so complete originality is not my goal. Just another nice looking car that does the job. Similar to my last build with more of an emphasis on the street instead of track... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Body and paint is being done by the same shop that did the orange car! went to body shop today to check progress.
Car has completed all the pulls on the rack....everything is aligned correctly now, and the body work is going to begin...the doors and front a rear hoods are ready for their last block sanding and awaiting paint with the chassis. I wish there was a way to entice my body guy to speed up the process a bit, but he is doing this as a side job for me...so I guess I can't complain too loudly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

only minimal progress....
removed the door strikers yesterday, media blasted along with mounting screws...so it is all nice and clean now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This is getting tedious (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

Looky what I found the other day.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)
with a little bit of various grits of sand paper and then some aluminum polishing compound, these should shine up pretty good like my last set....(bottom pic) Attached image(s)

slight bit of progress today.
front hood is on for checking of gaps and to make sure everything is aligned properly. Gaps look good (better than the pic shows) Front hood is good for paint. Rear hood is a bit molested in a couple of areas, so I sourced a better one to take it's place. Attached image(s)

Car will be slightly less retro without the Rivs, but that is OK...car will look a bit more "correct" with the Fuchs... I may still use the Rivs for some skinny tires, if I really want the retro look. get some 185 or 195s on them and they would work OK. But with my finding the Fuchs, I will probably mount a nice set of 205 Dunny Direzza Star Specs and be done with it. Got the Rivs for free from a good buddy anyway, so not out any money on them... just wish the body shop would get a bur under their saddle (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dead horse.gif) |
