I am real close to getting my 3.3 svx engine back together. The heads are out for valve and seat grind. The 6speed should be at my door at the end of next week. The out with the chevy and in with the suby. The reason they sound good is they are the same fireing order as a 911. There is a video out there of a guy that stuffed one in a 95-96 legacy and built long runner headers. Fixing the stock exhaust realy uncorks the tork at the bottom end. He raced a sti and was holding about a car lenth untill about 100mph. Im hoping i can rotate the intake so i dont cut the back. I will be posting pic. As a side note the engine had 190K and i found NOTHING out of spec. I added total seal rings and ACL race bearings, light polish on heads, and new oil and water pump. But valve guides, vavles, crank , rods , cams , all in factory specs. Amazing!! jcl Where are you in the NW? I'd love to see your conversion. I had a similar experience when I pulled the oil pump on a 160k EG33 that I'm putting in a Syncro Westy. It micced exactly to spec and showed absolutely no sign of wear. |

This sounds like the route for me. I'm actually a fan of simpler electronics and thing the EG33 is probably the engine for me. Sounds like I have a path, now to make it happen.
Thank you everyone for all of the fantastic information. I can't wait to get started on it, and will probably have some questions for a few of you as I get deeper into it. |

Dam you. You made me look into this. There are near a dozen of these cars running driving and in good shape near me. The highest was 2400.00, lowest was 1000.00. I could easily sell my 180 h.p. 911 engine, with Webers, buy a whole damn car, make money there, drive the Ru for a while, part it out, keep the engine, sell the rest and make money, and end up with more h.p., better feul mileage etc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) DAMN YOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!

When I did the EG33SVX conversion on my 914 I bought a running car that had been in a wreck.
I used everything off of the car I could. Engine, wiring harness, fuel pump(the stock subaru pump with mount fits inside a 914 Tank like its made for it.). I didnt try to sell anything esle off of the car. Just took it to the salvage yard and got $225 for it as scrap metal. This put me at $175 in my engine. After buying a Megasquirt and a set of outfront headers and the complete wrx transaxle. These were the big money expenses. This was about $1000 total. I removed the EG33 and installed a EZ30D just because I got a good deal on the engine. Im going to install the EG33 back into a LE CREAMSICLE and make a hot rod track car out of it. It will be intersting to see which one is the fastest. |

I always thought this would be a good swap, glad to see that others have proven it. Not sure if I would eventually go this route - but I wouldn't rule it out.

I have the 2.0 WRX turbo motor, which is lightweight and very strong, but am still intrigued by NA engines with similar horsepower. You had the EZ and EG motors in the same car, so how did they compare? Did you by any chance compare the weights of each motor? Did you do a build thread? |

Man, that makes it even better! If I didn't already have a stupid fast Audi S4 (twin turbo 6-cyl) I would be tempted to get an SVX for my DD! |

Want to hear the EZ30 motor from that Brazilian car? Here: Capuava Track Day (from outside the car). It's a totally stock engine, just headers. I'm thinking it sounds REALLY good. Goes pretty good, too, for a pretty modestly set up car with a stock engine.
