I saved my car from going up in flames... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blowup.gif) You're very lucky. Maybe the rear trunk would be a better place to keep one of those (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) ... no gas fumes to ignite (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)I had a jump starter/battery box in my front trunk that shorted out and caught fire while I was in a store. ... |

I refreshed my dash and basket weave.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
You can even see where my greasy forehead was pressed against the dash. That will buff out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Luckily I had a fire extinguisher and it didn't do any damage. Just made a mess. Not sure exactly how it happened. I'm very fortunate. How the heck did that happen? I have one of those boxes. Should I be afraid? Anyone else seen this before? |

Drove to Lakemont and back. Broke speed limit a few times. Then waxed some.

Bought a female side of a hitch setup for my v8. Going to install it friday & tow my 914 trailer to a swap meet on sunday. I'm going to do it similar to Mike's with it hidden when not in use behind the license plate. I'll post some pics of the setup

Should I be afraid? Anyone else seen this before? I don't really know how it happened. It was lying on its back and the leads weren't touching anything. I assumed it shorted out internally? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) I think I'm going to stick with good ole fashion jumper cables. |

My guess is he cut the lid latch out or moved it and maybe cut the trunk! I modified mine so I didn't have to cut or move anything on the body! Attached thumbnail(s) |

I got to drive the old 'BB' today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) ...
... but only about 25 feet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... It was the first chance I had to test out my knee after surgery a month ago ... worked pretty good (both the knee & the car) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Had to move it out of the shop so we could stick my wife's Beetle in there for some repairs. Some turd-ball threw a fire extinguisher through the rear window over the Memorial Day w/e. We're giving the car to nephew Jeremy, so he got to clean up the broken glass (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Then, I got a ticket in the Tundra on the way home ... no right brake light. Fuching rookie (IMG:style_emoticons/default/busted_cop.gif) ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) |

Took the wife for a ride along the lake front and then out for ice cream. Looking good! Are those 17" Cup II wheels? What tires & sizes, if you don't mind? Any tricks to get 'em to fit? I've got a set for the wasserpumper that I might have to dig out of storage... |

I've got a set for the wasserpumper that I might have to dig out of storage... Thank you! Why yes they are. Not concours but nice enough for me. Obviously with the fender lights I am no concours addict. 17X7 at all four corners. 205 50 R 17 Bridgestone Potenza's I only rolled the lips of all of the fenders. I did a 5 lug conversion with 911 front end w/3.5" calipers used the same size spacer at all of the wheels. I will have to look up the size if you need it. I want to say 10-12mm? This of course necessitated the use of longer studs. I have about 9mm clearence on inside and outside of the rear wheel. I mounted the wheel to the rear swing arm without the shock or spring and ran it through its' full range of motion without a rub. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) I have the fronts set a hair below recommended ride height and as of yet no rub with slightly aggressive driving. The suspension is very tight for a progressive street / non- track set up. larger springs all around and front and rear sway bars etc. Not much movement / hopefully= not much rub. Funny thing. I have a set of very good condition Fuchs 16x6 (2each) and 16x7 (2each) with ok older tires mounted and mint center caps. I was thinking of putting them on but the family consenscious is to keep the Cups. I guess I will sell the Fuchs towards saving up for a 6 cyl conversion. Thanks again for the compliment, Pete Attached image(s) |

Kapt Kaos said he'd pay for half, so I ordered one of these exhaust clamps for the LM-2 sniffer.
Damn expensive little booger (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

not much bling for all that work, but it is very clean now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) What tips/tricks did you use to get the CIS to fit in your engine bay? Looks great! It was a very easy trick. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Just buy a well sorted car that somebody else put together with skill, love and money. (you can check my blog for more details about Elvira.) My guess is he cut the lid latch out or moved it and maybe cut the trunk! Give that man a cigar. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif) The latch was moved. The PO had a setup with a motorcycle cable that did not work reliably. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I solved the problem with hood pins. The trunk was cut and reshaped. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) A stock targa top does not fit.
